It's a funny country we have. I lived in the bible belt for six years and was constantly tempted in the wrong direction by the surrounding society, when you think it would have been easier to be Christian. I moved to California, and I have been closer to God the last couple of years than I have in quite a while. You would think same sex marriage would be voted in almost unanimously here, but the local "church" rose up mightily and brought about a vote to disallow it, right in the midst of what many consider a modern day Sodom. And yet some of the states that are allowing it, you would think were the bastion of the heatrland of America. A strange nation indeed.
Jim Morrison once said "People are strange" and as a nation we are very strange indeed. As individuals, our task is to be imitators of Christ - not impostors of, but rather like children copying what their Father is doing. The surrounding world always offer temptation - even if you are isolated, you have memories that can be seductive.
